Derek Iversen Half upon a time
when princes die and kings cry. The troll's bridge is broken and Peter Pan grows old. Sleeping Beauty never wakes up and the beans are never sold. Hansel and Gretel are eaten and the noble knight is beaten. When no one lets down their hair and the mirror on the wall shatters. Half upon a time. By Anonymous
It surprises me how easily lying comes to us After the years Of living in fear Because living in shelters isn't something you want everyone to hear But your lying has reached an all time high And I don't understand why You even hate it when I tell our mutual friends of our past Are you that ashamed of the background from which we came Of the suffering that caused so much pain I can't say I understand Because we both saw it differently You saw yourself as the oldest Moms only help I saw you as a lost sister the one that needed but didn't want the help I looked up to you But now as our lives continue to change I can no longer look up to you I look at you with shame Because I can't go back to those years and help out you and mom I can't go back and tell you I love you everyday like I should have done But Instead I look forward and This is what I see Two lost little girls in teenagers bodies I can't even began to comprehend what goes through your head But on the other hand I understand See while you look at me in shame The look I give my mirror image is ten times worse The dreams I once had I've given up on Everybody keeps saying we need to prepare for college But in my head knowledge Has been forgotten Dreams Have been lost And Tears Have been shed But inside all I feel is hollow And looking at you just makes it worse Because I see that disappointment in your eyes And it makes me feel so lost |
